European officials believe that reaching a peace agreement between Washington and Tehran (United States and Iran) could take around six months, and they emphasize—according to what Bloomberg reported from informed sources—that the ceasefire should be extended during this period.
The sources also state that these leaders are calling for the immediate reopening of the Strait of Hormuz in order to restore energy flows. They warn, in private meetings, of the risk of a possible global food crisis if this is not done by next month.
The report adds that the leaders also warn of the possibility of even higher energy prices if the war continues beyond that, stressing that the belief among the participants that Iran is seeking to acquire nuclear weapons has not changed after the most recent military campaign.
