Fermin Soniera, CEO of the joint venture between Germany’s Audi and SAIC Motor Group, stated that the company intends to expand its lineup in the Chinese market with this new model.
Soniera noted that sales of the “E5 Sportback”, the first electric vehicle resulting from this collaboration, have reached 10,000 units since its launch last September, according to Reuters.
The second model in the China-focused lineup, the fully electric SUV “E7 X”, is expected to be released in the second quarter of this year.
In 2024, the Volkswagen Group-owned company launched a new electric vehicle brand in China under the name “Audi” only, without its iconic four-ring logo, as part of its strategy to regain market share in the Chinese market.
