Most cryptocurrency prices fell on Wednesday, affected by a decrease in investors’ risk appetite as the U.S. government shutdown continues into its second week.
Bitcoin rose by 0.3% to reach $121,949.22 at 11:27 AM Mecca time, capturing about 58.3% of the total cryptocurrency market value.
Conversely, Ethereum, the second-largest cryptocurrency by market capitalization, declined by 0.15% to $4,471.95, while Ripple fell by 0.3% to $2.866.
The global cryptocurrency market capitalization stands at $4.16 trillion, with total trading volume over the past 24 hours at $242.24 billion, according to “Coin Market Cap” data.
Markets are awaiting the release of the minutes from the latest Federal Reserve meeting, during which policymakers cut interest rates by a quarter percentage point, later today.
