Cryptocurrencies experienced mixed performance on Tuesday, as investors avoided risks ahead of today’s Federal Reserve meeting to discuss monetary policy in the country.
Bitcoin fell by 0.65%, bringing its price to $114,202.01 at 10:15 AM Mecca time, after reaching $116,361.05, maintaining a share of approximately 59.1% of the total cryptocurrency market value.
While Ethereum, the second-largest cryptocurrency by market capitalization, dropped by 2.25% to $4,109.35, Ripple saw an increase of 0.8%, reaching $2.6483.
The global market capitalization of cryptocurrencies stands at $3.86 trillion, while the total trading volume over the past 24 hours has reached $147.9 billion, according to data from CoinMarketCap.
The Crypto Fear & Greed Index remained at 42 points, indicating a “neutral” stance, the same level recorded on Monday.
Markets expect the Federal Reserve to lower interest rates by a quarter percentage point in its meeting ending tomorrow, Wednesday, with another cut anticipated in December.
