Cryptocurrencies experienced mixed performance on Wednesday, as investors awaited the results of the Federal Reserve’s meeting and a speech by its chairman, Jerome Powell, to gauge the direction of monetary policy in the United States.
Bitcoin fell by 0.75% to reach $113,061.72 at 12:52 PM Mecca time, maintaining a share of approximately 59.2% of the total cryptocurrency market value.
Meanwhile, Ethereum, the second-largest cryptocurrency by market capitalisation, declined by 1.4% to $4,000.16, while Ripple saw an increase of about 2.1%, reaching $2.6496.
The global market capitalization of cryptocurrencies stands at $3.8 trillion, with the total trading volume in the past 24 hours amounting to $170 billion, according to data from CoinMarketCap.
The Crypto Fear & Greed Index dropped to 39 points (“fear”) after stabilizing at 42 points (“neutral”) yesterday.
